Operations readiness
Problem: Redevelopment and near-field exploration.
Solution: Conducted field development planning studies, drilled new wells, and derisked the volumes.
Result: The field was put into production using the Sea Eagle FPSO for evacuation, supporting greater return on investment for operators and stakeholders.
The development was executed through Shell’s decision-gate-3, with funds released for FDP implementation. The FDP included detailed assessment of Technical, Economic, Commercial, Operational and Political (TECOP) challenges and mitigation strategies, integrating high-quality 3-D seismic imaging, effective drilling practices, strong HSE systems and modern production technologies.
Problem: Volumetric estimation for field development and facility sizing at approximately 1,200 m water depth, with 300–500 million barrels referenced for Sabah, Malaysia.
Solution: Developed deepwater models using Gulf of Mexico analogues.
Result: Full-field development and drilling using static and dynamic models.
Project type: Deepwater oil and gas development.
The Gumusu-Kakap Boneo field attained first oil.
Challenge: Field not in production; facilities had been cannibalized.
Approach: Repairs, installation, processing and evacuation strategy, operations and maintenance planning, and gas solution.
Documented status: Work toward returning the facility to production.
Challenge: Reservoir pressure decline.
Approach: Reservoir models evaluating pressure-maintenance scenarios.
Documented outcome: Two wells drilled for water injection, pressure maintenance and voidage replacement.
Approach: Deepwater static models using Gulf of Mexico analogues.
Documented scope: Full-field development and drilling using static and dynamic models.
